Work with Local Bakiga in Nyabushabi Community!

Director One Village Uganda with needy children

One Village Uganda (OVU) is a grass root organization registered with the local government to serve the local Bakiga, in Nyabushabi Kyanamira communities. Volunteers who join this group or community will workon various projects that help the local community in reducing Poverty by helping the local population with income generating projects like beekeeping, hotcultural farming, Agriculture, poultry and many more.

Volunteers will participate in activities such as teaching, empowerment, Mentorship. Environmental conservation, Waste management and more.

Typical Day

Volunteers will help One Village Uganda with Environmental conservation activities that are focused on helping to slow global warming and climate change as well as improving agriculture for food production and create a sustainable income in the community.

Accomodation

  • Volunteers will stay with host families from local community. Based in a tranquil rural Environment or volunteer House.
  • Each Volunteer will have their own bed but may share a room.
  • Each bed should have a mosquito net.
  • A volunteer has a right to hire a furnished house in the near city but this cost is optional (not part of the volunteer fees).

(volunteers will have weekend free off for free).

Local Excursion

    We offer an optional safaris trips.

  • Safari at the famous Queen Elizabeth National Park the most beautiful park in Uganda with its starning wildlife views, a boat cruise at Kazinga Channel the longest channel that seperates 2 rift valley lakes George and Edward and a view to the western rift valley escapements as well as closest view to the mountains of the moon Rwenzori (mt. Stanely) COST: is $710 perperson and includes entry fees, transport, food and accommodation (Tips for the guide not included) 3days (2nights) for a group of 3 people and above.
  • Cultural exrcusions that includes Hiking mt Muhabura a 4160m volcano mountain with a crater lake at the top, lake Bunyonyi the most beautiful lake in the whole world with great views of the landscape, agricultural activities, scenery and a boat/canoe cruise/trek that will take you to a few islands of 29 the lake has and many more in the package. Cost: $630 per person 2 days.

Support

All volunteers will be provided with 24/7 hotline number to call in cases of emergency. In case of emergency, the health care facility is near from the host area and we have a vehicle for transport in this cases but medicare fee is on an individual cost not the organization.

Security: Uganda is a safe country.
