Prof. Peter Waiswa – Board chairperson

He is a medical doctor and researcher in Uganda, and holds a Master of Public Health and PhD from the joint program between Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm and Makerere University in Kampala. He has experience working in governmental and non-governmental organizations as well as in academia, including leadership positions on the World Health Organization’s Social Autopsy Working Group, the INDEPTH Network’s Maternal Newborn Working Group, Leader Maternal and Newborn Centre of Excellence, Makerere University and close collaborative ties with Saving Newborn Lives and the London School of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. He has co-authored in two Lancet Series, including every Newborn’ and ‘Ending Preventable Stillbirths’ Lancet series. His research focuses on neonatal health systems and policy, including policy analysis, implementation, and operational research, and how these are linked to programming.
